- although there are many different methods used in various academic disciplines, the term scientific method refers to that process of systematic inquiry which proceeds in a logical manner and involves the testing of theories against the available evidence. It implies an initial SKEPTICISM and an openness of mind before the FACTS or relevant evidence.
